All materials used in the Flooring industry are subject to various acceptance test's before being allowed to be used. There are various ways of testing material that issued in the building industry, Bamboo compares favourably against all hardwoods in any test it has under gone. In the two test's listed below compare the results of Bamboo to the hard woods tested -

The Hardness test our bamboo flooring is subjected to: A 2" diameter ball weighing 1.18lbs is dropped from a height of 6ft. On the bamboo flooring it caused an indentation 0f only 2.7mm. The rating for the product Hardness was - Excellent.

Abrasion: (Falling sand abrasion resistance) amount of abrasive needed to remove 1 mil of coating. The test was stopped at 250,000 millilitres - it failed to remove even 1 mil of finished coating. It has been given a wear index of 9 mil compared to 11 mil for Oak - BAMBOO was recommended for all residential and light commercial applications and for areas with HIGH TRAFFIC. Stability: All natural fibre boards will swell and expand under the influence of air humidity, moisture and temperature. Bamboo has a stable moisture content some way below that of wooden and laminate floors. It has a negligible length deformation under changes of humidity, width ways 1.3% to 1.6%, Bamboo floors have a shrinkage value of 0.13% which compares favourable to that of all good hard wood floors. Smoke Density: to pass this test the product must record levels of under 450. Bamboo scored 150 when flaming, 280 when smouldering - very acceptable. The non flaming or smouldering results were considerably less than that of leading Oak products.

Fitting: Bamboo can be fitted as any other type of solid flooring; i.e., floated, nailed or glued straight to the sub-floor. A damp-proof membrane is required if the moisture level is 2% and above in a concrete floor. ECO -BAM always recommend a damp-proof membrane if possible in all cases of fitting.
